A Call to Artists!
Pastels are the medium and works produced are temporary. There are no fees! Materials will be provided. Just bring talent, love for art, and love for our community. The streets of downtown Elmira become a gallery of art, with artists creating over 160 vibrant colorful images. Help us reach our goal of 200 artists.
The Elmira Street Painting Festival is celebrating the 12 years in July! We want you to celebrate with us! Elmira Downtown is pleased to announce a Call for Artist for the 12th Annual Elmira Street Painting Festival to be held Saturday, July 20th and Sunday July 21th in downtown Elmira. Pastels are the medium and works produced are temporary - but amazing. There are no fees to participate! Materials will be provided. A perfect opportunity and forum for professional and amateur artists of all ages to demonstrate their skills, compete for awards, earn local recognition through awards ceremony, event publicity, and be part of a community event.
Please know right up front so there are no surprises: For 12 years- this has been a rule - Artwork for the Festival must be appropriate for public viewing. No logos, commercial, political or personal advertisements or statements, written or visual or implied are permitted.
Each artist will receive a set professional chalk and other art supplies at no cost to participating artists. The festival provides an Artist Tent with beverages, light snacks and some shade. Elmira Downtown will once again be offering Two (2) - Youth Art Scholarships for 2017, (must be a senior from a local area high school).
Each year: Artist Awards - We give out awards, which include Best in Show, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, ESPF Honorable mention, Most Original, ESPF Youth Award, ESPF Youth Honorable Mention, and ESPF Team! Also, we celebrate our young artists who participated in a 5-week workshop called Chalk It Up for Our Youth! There will be 3 Chalk It Up Awards - 1st Place, 2nd Place, and 3rd.
Registration deadline is June 28, 2019. A completed Sign Up Form is required from anyone interested in participating in the festival. Participation in the festival is free for all ages and skill levels. All artists are provided space for artwork, chalk/art supplies, lunch/water, and NEW This year, an instructional class, which will be held a day or two prior to the festival and announced a few weeks in advance. Again, the artwork is due by the end of June if you and your team would like to be consider for one of the many awards!
We love our passionate artists - artwork for the Festival must be appropriate for public viewing. No logos, commercial, political or personal advertisement or statements, written, visual of implied are permitted. Absolutely no words or symbols intended or interpreted as political statements or advertising may appear within the street painting image. Use your art/image to tell your story.
